Formic Acid (HCOOH) is a colorless liquid with a pungent odor, commonly found in nature and used industrially as a preservative, antibacterial agent, and in leather tanning. It is also used in agriculture as a pesticide and in the production of rubber. Formic acid is highly corrosive and should be handled with care, using protective gloves and goggles. Its natural occurrence includes being present in ant and bee venom.
